JOSH RATING : 3.25/5.
Cast: Naga Chaitanya, Karthika, JD Chakravarthy, Shriya Dhanwantri, Sitara, Sunil, Bramhanandam, Prakash Raj.
Story, Screenplay, Direction: Vasu Varma.
Producer: Dil Raju.
Music: Sandeep Chowta.
Cinematography: Sameer Reddy.
Editing: Marthand.K.Venkatesh.
Story : The movie starts with Satya (Naga Chaitanya) feeling bad about his stay at his old college in Vizag and leaving to Hyderabad in search of a job. He stays with his Mamayya(Sunil) there, randomly meets up Karthika, a school teacher and becomes her friend.
Meanwhile he gets into conflict with the MGM College students there. The College students were used for his political interests by Durga Rao alias Annaiah (J.D.Chakravarthy). Satya after some clashes with them decides to teach Annaiah a lesson by reforming the students and joins the college.
Will Satya be able to reform the students? Why is Satya hell bent on reforming them? Why did he leave Vizag etc forms the rest of the story.
Artistes Performance : Telugu Industry got a new rockstar with Naga Chaitanya. He is here to stay. He is handsome and acted well for a guy doing his first film. The flashback episodes especially suited his energy better.
Karthika was not upto the mark but its unfair to write off someone on their debut. Shreya Dhanwantry played Chaitanya’s friend in college and looked good.
Prakash Raj excelled in a tailormade role for him as Chaitanya’s old college principal. It was only apt that J.D.Chakravarthy who first got noticed in Nagarjuna’s college flick ‘Shiva’ played the villain in this new age college flick.
Bramhanandam played personal secretary cum political learner to him, but his role was short. Sunil’s comedy was adequate.
All the new artistes who played roles of Suresh, Guna, Radha etc did justice to their roles and brought freshness to the film.
Technical Details : Director has dealt with the script well, but there were some scenes where it appeared that, may be they should have gone for one more retake. Punch dialogues are good and different.
Music was above average with College Bullada and Title track standing out. Naga Chaitanya’s energy levels further added glitz to these songs. All songs mingled into the script pretty easily.
Coming to the Production Standards, may be a little bit more of lavishness would have been better for the film especially since it is a launch movie.
Editing by Marthand.K.Venkatesh is ok.
Super Verdict – Josh stands out as a above Average film. The intensity with which you like it is dependant on your attachment and version of Student Life. Morever it’s a good launch pad for Naga Chaitanya.
